People have space in locals to read?! I once tried breathing

Mumbai || Paused's avatar

It is actually a popular place to read. You bury your nose in a book, and you will forget the crowd. I should probably write about reading habits in trains - the younger ones who grew up watching Cartoon Network are reading manga like books or videos based on them. The digital natives read books on their mobile screens. And then there are audiobook listeners, too. A surprisingly high number of readers are consuming books in new forms.

You may be right about breathing but then there is always that space for a reader in a Local or a Metro to read 'peacefully'

Yes. Shut the city out!~

It was quite amusing to see that reading sculpture from Sector 6 Vashi make an appearance here :)

:) The wall art here is also from Navi Mumbai. It was a big theme some years back when NMMC had that wall art fetish.

Nothing to beat your photo-essays. Love them for their simplicity and 'no-caption-needed'. It is like grandma's first line... ek tha raja... and one knows something interesting is coming. Kudos

Such heartwarming pictures. Reminded me of the time I used to hang in locals and read books. So good to know the trend continues.

This photo essay was brilliant.splendidly captured . lovely moments of serendipity .Novel angles to capture the unsung readers .

Were they even aware the lens was focused on them .

All these moments on Mumbai locals where commuters are jostling for space !

You are the readers' paparazzo

The mural paintings complemented the theme

I could use some of these photos in a classroom to have an English conversation or a discussion

I remember missing to get down at my train station a few times in Mumbai and reaching the last stop as I was engrossed in reading. This brought back my Mumbai local memories. ☺️

Have also missed a flight once because I spent a few extra minutes deciding which book to buy! 🫣

Mumbai || Paused's avatar

hahahaha. happens. missed my station but not a flight. :)

I love how you bookcases these photos with individuals reading on buses and trains, the flow of movement outside echoing the flow of knowledge and enjoyment inside and how you end it with Learning How To Fly, moving beyond and upward in this flow.

Yes! Lost in transit :) Thank you.
