Thank you. That’s probably the best way to discover the city. Getting a little lost while trying to find a place.

Absolute brilliant and fascinating post Gopal. Would love to read this book for sure. Those pictures are also so evocative. You are a true city lover and it shows in every single post of yours. So much love pores through in this wanderlust. 💙

Just an aside: Manmohan Desai, the legendary director was from Khetwadi. He loved the area to his dying day and was often spotted playing cricket in the lanes and by-lanes there. The man could never adjust himself to the richer enclaves of the city despite becoming a serious Bollywood heavyweight..

Thank you. I had no idea that Manmohan Desai was from there. That place has a raw Bombay magic that you don’t feel in other parts anymore.

The Hunt is a good read. Also I am reading a book by Tanuj Solanki called The Machine is Learning that could be called a current version of the book.

It was reading 'Shikari' in translation that led me to write my own corporate-drama novel 'The Machine is Learning'. From my Goodreads review: "Shikari is various things: at times a thriller, at times a portrait of a corporate minion who is as much the hunter as he's the hunted, at times a portrait of a small-town man caught in 'the world of skyscrapers'." These three aspects were the ones I aimed to create in my novel too. Thank you for the post, and the images of Khetwadi :)

That’s awesome. I must read your book now and then let’s go for a walk to fictional addresses!

I remember I had got lost in Khetwadi once in the search of Chor bazaar which was a little far from here and it felt so familiar and distant at the same time. I love how beautifully you have complied it with pictures meaning you have visited all these places and taken by the stories of them. I love seeing Bombay in new ways.
