The South-West Monsoon is the most beautiful thing about the Deccan and the west coast of India. Mumbai, barely floating above the sea and waiting to be swallowed by the rising tides before the century ends, is one of the better places to watch the moisture from the Arabian Sea, thick like Calicut Halwa (or any halwa that came with the same winds to ports all along the coast) form grey and black layers of clouds and roll over the hills to its east with Amazonian grace.
